D-PHYS Groupware
================
At [groupware.phys.ethz.ch](https://groupware.phys.ethz.ch/), we provide an installation of the web-based eGroupware collaboration suite. It's available to every owner of a D-PHYS account and offers many features like calendar, address book, integrated webmail, a todo list, project management and an integrated wiki. Furthermore, it supports synchronization of calendar and contacts data to a wide variety of targets.
eGroupware might also be the solution if you're looking for a collaborative calendar for your team or group. Please [[contact us|services/contact]] to request a group calendar (see below). [[calendar/Usage scenarios]] (mainly for ISG staff).
Access Calendars via the Web
----------------------------
Open the URL https://groupware.phys.ethz.ch/
Configure which calendars to sync
---------------------------------
If other users give you permission to access their calendars, you can configure groupware to also sync their calender to your clients.
* In the [web interface](https://groupware.phys.ethz.ch/) click on your intials or avatar (top right)
* Select **Preferences** in the menu
* Select **CalDAV/CardDav sync** in the top left dropdown
* In the **Calendar** tab, select the users/calendars you want to sync
* Hit **Save**
Grant access to your calendar
-----------------------------
* In the [web interface](https://groupware.phys.ethz.ch/) click on your intials or avatar (top right)
* Select **Access** in the menu
* Click on the `+` (plus) icon
* Application: **Events**
* Access by: Select the desired user who should have access
* Rights: Select the desired access rights
* Hit **OK**
Group calendars
---------------
[[Contact us|/services/contact]] and we will create a dedicated group calendar account (LDAP)
and crediantials. This account is usually managed by your IT-responsible or secretary.
* In the [web interface](https://groupware.phys.ethz.ch/) log in using the group account
* Grant access to your group members (see above)
Your group members can now add the calendar in their web interface
and configure the calendar for synchronisation via CalDAV (see above).
This is a required step in order for the calendar to appear in other clients.
Example workflow:
- Grant access to others (in the personal or in the group calendar)
- Others can then access the calendars via webinterface

- For adding entries to other calendars instead of the personal one, you
need to use the 1 day or 7 day view
[[!img /media/groupware/egw_2.png alt="D-PHYS Groupware" size="450x"]]
- Each user then needs to configure which calendars to sync to clients
via CalDAV (by default only the own personal calendar is synced)
- Sync calendar with applications (each user authenticates using their
own account and sees all calendars that they configured for sync)
